The challenge

The brand was moving paid media from a previous agency. The product feeds powering Google Shopping and Meta catalog ads were owned by that agency, and the data inside them was thin.

Custom labels were unreliable, so campaigns could not target by gender, fabric, activity or sale status. Merchant Center flagged missing attributes like color. Conversion tracking was firing duplicate and broken signals, which muddied bidding.

The team needed clean data and a funnel they could trust before a major sales period.

Our approach

  1. 1

Brand-owned feeds on Google and Meta

We moved both feeds to a setup the brand owns outright, with hourly syncs and a clean Meta catalog. Campaigns migrated off the old agency catalog with no loss of ad delivery.

  2. 2

Custom labels built for how the brand actually sells

When the feed tool's rules could not read the brand's product tags, we built supplemental feeds for gender, fabric, activity and sale status. That gave precise control over Shopping and Performance Max listing groups, including sale and final-sale items.

  3. 3

    Attribute and data quality

We worked through Merchant Center gaps (color, product type depth, descriptions) and mapped Shopify metaobject color data into the feed, so each product carries the color name shoppers see.

  4. 4

    Conversion tracking cleanup

We audited every active conversion action, isolated the primary bidding signal, and identified a duplicate pixel and a broken server-side stream.

  5. 5

    Full-funnel account structure

Google was organized into Brand, Shopping, Performance Max, Non-Brand and Demand Gen. Meta was rebuilt into top, middle and bottom of funnel, with exclusions so prospecting reaches new customers and retargeting stays efficient.

  6. 6

Weekly reporting tied to revenue targets

Every Monday: blended ROAS, funnel performance, and new vs returning customers against gross demand and net revenue targets.

The results

With clean feeds and a structured funnel in place, the brand's Memorial Day sale delivered 9.7x blended gross demand ROAS for the peak sales week, with Google at 6.1x and Meta at 4.4x.

The 5-day event produced $265K in gross demand, 220% of forecast, and the highest single revenue day of the year. It also built a large retargeting audience for the next product launch.

Key takeaways

  1. 1

Feed quality is a growth lever

Better product data means better targeting, better bidding and better ad relevance.

  2. 2

    Own your data

Brand-owned feeds and catalogs give you control and make agency transitions painless.

  3. 3

    Clean tracking comes first

Bidding is only as good as the conversion signals behind it.

  4. 4

    Structure the funnel

Separating prospecting from retargeting keeps spend efficient and reporting honest.
